When Financial Fear Meets Hope

In April 2026, a woman walked into a Pennsylvania Pregnancy Resource Center determined to have an abortion. After her pregnancy test and ultrasound, she was asked what was preventing her from choosing life. Her answer was simple: finances and lack of support.
A referral to Save Unborn Life was immediately submitted and approved. The following week, she returned for a second ultrasound with the baby’s father. As they watched their active little baby moving on the screen, she became emotional. Afterward, she shared that they had decided to parent their baby. Praise the Lord!
Mother and father continued attending parenting and financial classes through the center. Fathers are an important part of the complex circumstances surrounding an unexpected pregnancy, and providing them with encouragement and practical support can help strengthen the entire family.
Later, the mother developed serious pregnancy complications and delivered her baby prematurely at just 22 weeks in mid-August. Through this incredibly difficult time, the family continued to benefit from SUL’s financial assistance and expressed tremendous gratitude for the support they received.
This story reminds us that sometimes financial help is more than paying a bill—it can be the stepping stone that helps change the trajectory of a life.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to respond with love, kindness, and compassion. The Lord has a special and unique plan for every life—mother, father, and child. We may not know what lies ahead, but we can choose to walk alongside one another and trust Him with what comes next.
